Abstract
|

|
A case of drug-induced methemoglobinemia due to DDS in a 11-year-old girl was reported.
She had been ingesting DDS one tablet(100mg) twice a day over somewhat one month´s duration because of cosmetic purpose. Blood levels of methemoglobin on the day of admission was 2. $gm/100ml. and decreased to 0.9gm/100m1. after intravenous infusion of methylene blue and ascorbic acid. Then she was discharged in improved condition on the 5th hospital day.
Brief review of literature was also made.
